Travis Lanier, director of CPU product management, discusses in detail what goes inside Snapdragon processors and sets them apart from the competition. From the custom micro-architecture (called “Krait” and based on the ARM instruction set), to the asynchronous symmetric multiprocessing (or aSMP – a technology that can throttle the frequency of each CPU core independently), to thermal management, power efficiency, multiple cores and more. All of them resulting in a highly optimized chip. Yes! It is a little bit hard core hardware terms and design but these are actually part of my real job! Enjoy!
